The Heart of Vital Relationship
"For one human being to love another: that is...the work for which all other work is but preparation. It is a high inducement to the individual to ripen...a great exacting claim upon us, something that chooses us out and calls us to vast things." - Rainer Maria Rilke
Relationships can be vital and bring out the best in us, but many of us come to experience marriage more as a function and limitation than as a fulfilling and enlivening experience. There have been numerous great and inspiring love stories, but most movies, novels, and love songs don't tell us how to keep love alive.
In this workshop you will re-visit what drew you together, bring back the excitement, playfulness and intimacy you may have thought you lost forever, and celebrate the growth and maturity that life experience can bring. You will learn the skills to navigate past and through the places you get stuck in repeated arguments, unresolved hurts, resentments, and fears and discover attitudes and behaviors that will keep closeness and excitement alive.
Emotional honesty, personal responsibility and commitment are the stock in relationships that pay dividends for a lifetime. In this time of global and economic uncertainty, we need to know what we can count on, both in ourselves and in our life partners. No investment matters more.
Both educational and experiential, the weekend will allow ample time for practice, self-exploration, and sharing with other participants. We use awareness and skills training, group and individual exercises, and stories from our experiences of conflict and connection in a blended stepfamily of five children. Please join us for a weekend of healing, inspiration, and fun.
